It is with delight
and gratitude that I welcome you to my web site.

My name is Gavin Young and as a Spiritual Life Coach I partner primarily with BabyBoom/GenX men and women. My practice is ecumenical and all-inclusive. All religions, denominations and spiritual traditions are welcome.

Together, over a period of time, we will explore the various compartments of your life. Based on mutual trust, we will create a spirituality within those compartments that will ultimately lead to a new understanding and wholeness. My focus is to enhance all areas of your life through spiritual integration.

Dear Friends,

It's been quite awhile since we last conversed judging from the date of my last "letter" to you (find it in archives if you wish to read it). My apologies, it's been an interesting Winter/Spring and I'd enjoy sharing with you some of what has been happening here in southern Oregon.

First of all,
books, books and more books. It seems I can never gather enough knowledge, and am always searching out new and different ways of looking at "the signs of the times". My stack of books at present consists of the following SUPERB titles:

Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth: Awakening to your Life’s Purpose (truly a life changing tome, which I think should be required reading in some form starting in grade school!)

Marianne Williamson's latest book, The Age of Miracles: Embracing the New Mid Life (written specifically for 45-50 year olds, Marianne suggests great ways of seeing mid life as a new beginning rather than another year closer to "old" age [and death]; great reading for late Baby Boomers like me.)

John Shelby Spong's Jesus for the Non-Religious (an incredibly captivating book [as are all of his books], which focuses solely on the human Jesus of Nazareth bereft of later mythologized trappings; I highly recommend this regardless of your religion, denomination or spiritual tradition; it's simply a great read!)

I am engaging more and more with progressive Christianity and discovering a joy in truth as I've never experienced it before. If you want to know more, visit www.tcpc.org. (The Center for Progressive Christianity). I recently came across a quote of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's that's eerily prophetic regarding progressive Christianity. It reads as follows:

"It is not for us to prophesy the day (though the day will come) when men and women will once more be called on to utter the word of God that the world will be changed and renewed by it. It will be a new language, perhaps quite nonreligious, but liberating and redeeming-as was Jesus's language; it will shock people and yet overcome them by its power; it will be the language of a new righteousness and truth, proclaiming God's peace with humanity and the coming of the Kingdom. Till then the Christian cause will be a silent and hidden affair, but there will those who pray and do right and wait for God's own time. May you be one of them, and may it be said of you one day, 'The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter till full day.'" Proverbs 4:18

Please check out our new feature, "Ask Gavin a Question". I am already excited by the responses I've gotten and am even more excited about tackling any questions you may have regarding virtually anything in the spiritual arena (e.g., theological quandaries, spiritual crises, etc.). Also, please remember that Whitehawk Spirit Coaching is coming to your local television station starting the week of June 9th, 2008. We will be featured in a two minute segment, which will air on PBS and the major news channels, as well as Voice of America (very nice that we're getting the word out to the world!!). The date of the prime-time segment is yet to be determined, but keep watching this site for more info. If you're on my mailing list, you'll automatically receive updates about air times.

I feel really blessed, folks. Despite the constant struggles of day-to-day life which we all face, there is SO MUCH to be thankful for. Just look around and count your blessings. And remember, I welcome your prayer/meditation requests (kept strictly confidential). Give me a call or send me an email.

I'm leaving you this time with a verse from "Matthew's" Gospel. It is my challenge and Christ's promise to you until we chat again.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (NRSV)

In what ways are YOU a peacemaker in your day to day life? From the simplest things to the most grandiose, make a list of how making peace functions in your life. You'll be amazed at what comes up.

Peace be with each of you, keep fighting the good fight, run the race with patience; you are loved.

Gavin

"But, in accordance with his (Christ's) promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home." 2 Peter 3:13 (NRSV)

KEEP BUILDING THE KINGDOM, FRIENDS!!
